What's up?

Not much, Matt's parents visited us on their way back form Tahiti.

We haven't been blogging for a while, mainly because we use twitter http://twitter.com and because we are very lazy ;)

We promise to add more news/pictures really soon.

Congrats Abby !!

To our newest home-owner friend, Abby, we just want to say that we're glad that God had such a hand in finding and getting your new house !!!

So when is the housewarming ? ;)

Bye bye

Today we spent most of the day in Los Angeles, but only after receiving the great news that Marjorie passed the first stage of the French National Teachers competition.
Good luck with the rest of it, we know you can do it !

As for the rest of our day, it was spent checking out Hollywood Blvd, Sunset Blvd, Subway sandwiches and Jamba Juice. We then had to say goodbye to Matt's parents tonight at LAX.

San Diego, the parents have arrived !

After a long flight, Matt's parents arrived tonight. Unfortunately Matt's dad arrived a little under the weather, but we're all glad that he was able to rest on his layover here in the States.

Congrats EAA Class of 2007

To our many friends in the graduating class of 2007 at EAA, we're all really proud of you guys and are glad that we got to know you this year.
School's out for the summer ! Woohoo :)

Sheer craaaaaziness !

I've grown up hearing people say: "the day I win the lottery I'll ... " But what most people don't know is that the people who say such a thing (around me at least) never actually play the lottery .... yet they always hope.

Hey !! But there IS hope ! I won $4 bucks and I didn't even have to buy the ticket !!!! :D
Yay for me :)

Vista Chocolate Festival

You'd think that at a place that's called "Chocolate Festival" there would be lots o' chocolate ... but no. There were actually only about 6 stands where they gave away or sold chocolate. Pretty sad, but at least we had great weather, got some free sunscreen and a free scratch-off lottery ticket ! ;)

Stay reeeeally still

While at the Vista Chocolate Festival today Jason got his tension or nerve stress level tested. He had to have little shots of electricity passed through his neck and on his back to get his results. As you can see, despite his daddy's torture, Luke was having a great time :)

Happy Birthday Esper !

Today was Esper's birthday and her husband, Paul, organized a nice little outing lunch at a favorite chinese restaurant in downtown Fallbrook. All their eyes were telling me "take the picture" since they were all hungry and wanting to eat their lunch !

San Marcos Youth Day

Matt's away in Portland this weekend at a developer's conference. So today Zulita and I went to the San Marcos Youth Day. We had a good time singing bilingual hymns (even some stuff I hadn't sang since I was little) and then a very yummy potluck lunch after.

Foot spa at the Harty's

Tonight was all about the feet. Zulita wanted to try out her new foot spa machine and we all got a shot at it :) We all had nice, soft feet by the end of the evening :)

Happy Mother's Day to all !

A little shout-out to all the moms that we know, or that know us ;)
to let you all know that you're loved and appreciated.

Happy Mother's Day

See you soon Grandpa

The funeral has just finished (at noon EST/Michigan time).

Everyone is sad but glad that Grandpa is not suffering any longer.

Got to talk to several family members (thanks for the phone card Mom): Dad, Uncle Hermann, Aunt Arminda, Aunt Haydée, Aunt Celia and Cousin Danny.

You have all said that your prayers and thoughts are with every member of the family, and on their behalf, they thank you all, as do I.

Octavio Vega, you'll be missed

Grandpa is gone.

Grandpa passed away this morning at 7am (EST/Michigan time).

I don't have a lot of details of how or who was there. What I do know is that Dad and Tia Celia spent most of the evening singing hymns to Grandpa, and that he was not alone when the time came.

From what I understand, everyone is extremely sad, but remarkably calm. We all know that he is no longer suffering. Your thoughts and prayers have been greatly appreciated.

I don't have any funeral info, just that the viewing is tonight and that the funeral will be tomorrow.

Prayer ...

Prayer. It's something that I've thought a lot about
since receiving a call from my dad yesterday.
Why do people pray ? I guess some pray because they're scared. Others because they're happy. Others because they're looking for guidance. Or, I thought this was an interesting idea, some pray because they can't make up their minds on something and they're looking for someone else to make the decision for them. There are lots of reasons why people pray.

This time I'm praying so that I won't be selfish. My grandpa in Bolivia has been sick for a very long time, sometimes even landing him in the hospital. Each time we tell each other that "oh, he'll pull through it" or "he'll take better care of himself once he's out". This time it's not a matter of better care. I'm praying that I won't be selfish and instead pray that he sticks around just a little bit longer so that my sister and I can introduce him to our husbands. I'm praying that he won't suffer anymore, even though it will make me incredibly sad to lose him.

My dad's flight is landing in Santa Cruz in about 15 minutes ... I pray that he'll be in time to say goodbye for all of us.

BBQ !

Sorry, it's the only picture I managed to take after an awesome BBQ with Gordon, Zulita, Matt, Jason, Luke and Heidi² :)

We got to chow down on hot dogs, potato salad, grilled veggies, salad, a little cake and some great French pastries that the Decenas brought along :)

Then we all hung out watching stuff on the internet and hanging out.

Good times, good food, good friends.
