Matt is a switcher

I finally received my new MacBook laptop few days ago and I became what Apple people call a "switcher" :)

Since Apple decided to switch to Intel CPU and that you can now run Windows and Linux on your mac (You can even run the 3 at the same time), I wanted a Mac.

My employer saw the benefit of using a great piece of software on a great hardware, and we all migrated to Mac :) We still run Windows on "Parallels" but we know have a full Unix based OS with a lot of flexibility.

Also, Ruby is pre installed on Mac OS 10.4.x and Rails come with Mac OS 10.5 which should be released soon.

Well, the Bears have flexed their muscles.

Super Bowl this year will be the
Chicago Bears
and the
Indianapolis Colts

And for those who (like me) have noticed a chanting song several times during the last few games my thanks go to Kim who tracked down the song and its words (as well as the infamous "Super Bowl Shuffle"). Just click here and enjoy :)

See you all in front of the tv in 2 weeks for a memorable game :)

We Joined a Gym!

We finally did it! We joined a Gym and started our training with a Personal trainer! The new L.A Fitness Gym in Temecula is amazing, on top of being a full gym with all the machines, they have a 25-meter swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, racquetball courts...
We are very excited and very motivated. We are planning on going there 3 times a week! Yes, you read correctly: 3 times a week. We know it's not gonna be easy but we want to start exercising before it's too late. (The food here is really good and we will soon REALLY need to exercise ;) )

Matt

p.s: the reason why we don't post many pictures on our blog is that we have a hard time enjoying and taking pictures at the same time, we'll try to work on that.

p.s2: We arrived exactly a month ago! We hope to receive a letter from the Governator to congratulate us ;)

Rumba al Super Bowl !

Well ... as a true Bears fan, I have been keeping up with my team this season while in Europe. Win after win, with the occasional lapse in judgments, the regular season has ended with a 14-3 record. And now .... Post Season !! And I was glued to my tv this morning.

If there's anything to say about the Bears is that they always give victory a run for it's money ;) Today's game was no exception. A real "nail-biter" and, as always "down-to-the-wire" game, my Bears pulled off another victory to beat the Seattle Seahawks 27-24 in overtime !!!!

Next week's game is against the New Orlean's Sants. I will be in front of our tv at 11am (my time). But for now, all I have to say is ...

GO BEARS !!! :)

Californian Driver License

So I did pass my written driving license test (l'equivalent du code en Francais) and I still need to schedule my behind the wheel test to get my full license. However, I do have a temporary California driver license :D

And yes, I did make a mistake... so, no I'm not perfect ;)

Our new neighbours: David & Victoria

David sent us an email to let us know that he took a new job in L.A and therefore was looking for a place to live. He asked if we were happy where we were and he will more than likely buy some something in the area. We understand that he was not interested in moving back to the U.K, and after Madrid, the L.A area seemed like a good choice.

We are looking forward to seeing you around guys!

p.s: As I told many of you, we won't provide you with David or Victoria Beckham's contact details ;)

What's up?

Not much actually. We are very sorry for not having kept the blog up to date but we've been super busy and we didn't really have much time to communicate with you guys. We should get broadband tomorrow so that will definitely help (we should also get our phone working and a new cell phone number).

Apart from that, we are doing very good. It's really nice and sunny here so we can't really complain about the weather (especially after living in England). People are really nice and have helped us a lot. We are getting to know places around, where to shop (I found everything I like such as Maggi sauce, Prego sauce and most of the stuff I'm used to from living in France). We were really happy to find out we have a Costco a few minutes from home, as well as a Trader Joe's and a WinCo.

Some Americans complain about the amount of Mexicans in California. I have to say that I'm really glad to see so many foreigners and people from various backgrounds. I don't feel so different after all and I have to say that Mexican food is the best food ever (along with Thai food)!

Heidi is busy looking for a job and we didn't have much time to visit around and spend long afternoons at the beach (20 minutes from home). But since the weather is always nice, we should be able to do that sometime soon.

In the meantime, Heidi and I will have to get our Californian Driver License which means that we both need to take our written test and I might have to take a driving test.

We'll give you more news ASAP.
