Kickin' it for Heidi's night

Tonight we had an experience (for Matt, Gordon & Zulita, it was their first ever experience) line dancing !! Temecula has this bar/dance hall that, when you step inside, you think that you've just stepped into southern country ;) :)

Thanks Chelsea & Anna for showing us a few steps ! :) After the evening out, we all went to Gordon & Zulita's to hang out a bit (and then the drive back down to Rancho PQ).

Celebrating Heidi's day :)

Check out pictures from SeaWorld, where we celebrated the daylight hours of Heidi's birthday :)

We were joined with Anna, Chelsea & Joe on soaking rides and animal exhibits around the park.

I'm a winner !!!!

As many of you who know me already know, I tend to sign up for a lot of 'freebies' online. And to my credit, I have been successful in the past. But most times my time spent signing up for things online has been labeled 'wasting time' (or at least 'not using my time well').

Whatever the case may be, this morning I received a phone call from a local radio station that we listen to (it's on our alarm clock and usually playing in our car). Come to find out, I was the winner of one of their online contests ! Something I had signed up for last week, and completely forgotten about :) (although, I do admit to trying to call into the station when they were giving the same package away ... but, of course, never got through).

The prize ? Or should I say prizes !? ;) Here they are:
A gift certificate for a facial (or massage) at a spa in La Jolla. A gift card for flowers. An assortment of some classy chocolates. And dinner for 2 at The Melting Pot (a fondue restaurant in La Jolla).

I'm still kinda in shock about the whole prize :) and at least had the presence of mind to take a picture of the parking space sign right in front of the radio station ;) Suffice it to say, today has the makings of a good day :) ... let's see when I manage to make reservations for the facial & dinner out ;) :)

A little holiday surprise :)

A little surprise 'au Matt' :)

He surprised me with reservations to Outback Steakhouse. And though many might think that there's gotta be something more romantic than going to an Australian steakhouse on Valentine's ... I totally disagree.

1st: I wasn't expecting anything at all
2nd: It's steak ... and good steak at that !

.... there's really no need for any other argument other than, we got seated almost immediately upon arrival (a couple who arrived just ahead of us was seated 45 minutes after us because they didn't have reservations ... I only noticed that because they sat in the booth behind Matt ;) ), we got to spend an evening out, ate great stakes, and what more can you ask for on a night like tonight ?

While driving home from the store ...

... I managed to catch this great picture of snow on the distant mountains (that we used to live close to when we were still in Fallbrook).

Love is in the air ... oh wait, that's tilapia ;)

These are a couple of snapshots of our Valentine's lunch. And before anyone goes asking where the dessert is/was ... there were freshly made muffins ... but we got too full on the first two courses :P

Going LIVE

A nice little picture of my screen (although I guess I could have done a 'screenshot' instead ...) to commemorate a very important occasion in one of Matt's projects.

This proud wife is happy to see the fruits of her hard-working husband be noticed by others in the online community.

To summarize, one of Matt's clients went 'live' ... meaning that they are ready for the entire cyber world to see them. If you're looking for a more detailed account of what happened, just email (or IM) Matt ;)

The whiteboard

The whiteboard is taking a whole lot longer than expected to come to completion ... many other things have taken priority ... and some days, yes, it is ignored as well. But then again ... I guess that is one of the things you have to live with when you marry a procrastinating perfectionist ............. ;)

Balloon invaders

Driving down I-5 ... minding our own business ... being invaded by hot air balloons.

These are some cool shots Matt was able to take 'on the fly' ;)

Matt's desk

Here is a picture of Matt's desk/office. Walls are green and while. The sofa is used for 'brainstorming' and the exercise ball is a 2nd chair for when Matt works with another developer.

More pictures coming soon(ish).

Happy Chinese New Year

Happy Chinese New Year. This time around it is the year of the rat ... I thought it fitting to have Mickey and Minnie dress up for the occasion ;)

To commemorate the event, I made stir-fry and rice. Yes, a little on the traditional side, but maybe next year I'll prepare a little better :)

A duty to vote

California's primaries were today and I was pleased to see that I just needed to go a few blocks to cast my ballot. This was my first experience voting in a primary election, and in November, I'll have my 3rd experience voting for a president.

Super (Wet) Bowl 2008 :P

The day started (and continued on) with more rain. We ended up getting material for Matt's whiteboard in a nasty, misty concoction of light rain and wind. The board ended up not making it home without some scratches (note to self: next time, TIE DOWN the ladder you put on a melamine covered board :P :P :P).

Despite that little set back, we did manage to get everything home ok, and I returned the truck we had borrowed. We then proceeded to watch a really great game of football :) Though neither one of our favorite teams were in the Super Bowl this year, Matt and I enjoyed the game :) Next year, we are planning to have a Super Bowl party, so mark your calendars now ;) :)

Taking a break with friends

What a break from the rain :) The Dawkins joined us today for a meal and some walking around the area, with a nice sunset at the end of our walk. After our walk we came back to the house and sat in front of the big screen with a little popcorn and watched 'The Italian Job'. I've seen the movie maybe 3 or 4 times already, and honestly, this was the best. :)
